OTS Secretary General participated at the “9th Great Hun-Turk Kurultay”

 

Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated in the 9th Great Hun-Turk Kurultay organized by the Hungarian Turan Foundation on 10-11 August 2024 in Bugac.

Organized by Mr. András Bíró Zsolt, the President of the Hungarian Turan Foundation, the Kurultay was attended by H.E. Mr. Sándor Lezsák, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS, Ms Boglárka Illés, State Secretary for Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, High representatives from member and observer states of the OTS, Heads of the Turkic Cooperation Organizations, Heads of the Diplomatic missions of the OTS countries accredited in Budapest, parliamentarians and high officials from Turkic countries.

Addressing the Kurultay, the Secretary General expressed his deep gratitude to the Hungarian Turan Foundation in promoting the great heritage of the Turkic peoples by holding the Kurultay which was attended by more than 27 representatives of Turkic peoples from different parts of the world. Kubanychbek Omuraliev highlighted that the current international security challenges, conflicts, political and socio-economic crises in the world necessitate strengthening solidarity and unity. Thus, the OTS stands committed to its mission to promote peace, stability, and prosperity not only across Turkic regions but in the world.

Secretary General of the OTS stated that the Kurultay is not just a gathering, but it is a powerful testament to the bonds that connect Turkic peoples, transcending borders and generations. He also indicated that this is a celebration of the preservation of ancient traditions and it serves as a revival of ancient Turkic nomadic cultures, paying tribute to great ancestors. In this regard, the Secretary General underlined the strong support of the OTS for timeless values of solidarity, mutual respect, and cooperation.

Secretary General underlined that Hungary, as part of the Turkic World and observer state at the OTS is of strategic significance in this respect. He stressed that Hungary highly contributes to strengthening cooperation and solidarity among Turkic states.

OTS Secretary General also participated in the Turkic World Cultural Forum that was organized within the framework of the Kurultay. Moderated by the President of the Hungarian Turan Foundation Mr. András Bíró Zsolt, the Forum was attended by H.E. Mr. Péter Hoppál, Governmental Commissioner of Hungary, Heads of the Turkic Cooperation Organizations, parliamentarians, high officials from Turkic countries and representatives of several renowned Hungarian research institutes. In his speech, the Secretary General highlighted that the Forum is of high importance since it brings together under one roof the Turkic organizations for reflection of common efforts to project and engineer the Turkic World’s future.

The Kurultay program also included cultural and sport events such as a large-scale archaeological and anthropological exhibition, army parade of cavalry troops, archery performances, presentation of falconry, demonstration of steppe equestrian combat, wrestling competitions, musical performances by masters of arts of the Turkic countries and etc.
